Case Study
The topic of wireless and how it can be harnessed effectively is a broad one, so consider how AlphaKOR was able to assist one company to increase productivity and cut costs.
Problem: A Warehousing company located in Oldcastle, Ontario expanded their operation. They added an additional warehouse 1 km away. The two warehouses needed to be integrated to share a common database. They were facing exorbitant cost to bridge the locations using fiber optics.

Solution: AlphaKOR Systems performed a detailed site survey. The implementation was done in two stages. Stage 1 was to implement a high security Point-to-Point wireless connection between the two buildings. Stage 2 was to implement a local Wireless network at the new location using Datamax Barcode scanners to give them wireless scanning capabilities.
Result: The company saved over 80% by avoiding to bridge the two locations via Fiber lines. The wireless barcode scanners implementation increased staff effectiveness by over 20%.
Wireless Technologies
With so much attention from the media and large technology companies, it's easy to forget that wireless is still very much in it's infancy. Most people are aware of the concept of wireless and the benefits it brings, but with it comes some downsides, most of which are not widely understood. A good example is security - did you know that the wireless router you purchased will most likely not provide any security whatsoever by default?
We can guide you through the minefield of adapting to new technologies such as wireless, helping you sidestep the obvious (and less obvious) pitfalls.
Wireless Networking
Wireless technology is rapidly advancing and there are many different implementations available to you. When configured properly they are secure, fast and reliable.
The technology is scalable and very cost effective. We can use it to implement a simple home wireless network or a complex outdoor building-to-building configuration. Multi-building solutions can be used to avoid running costly fiber optic lines or eliminate lower speed frame relay/vpn connections between locations. With planning, a wireless network can be as secure and easy to manage as your existing wired network.
Wireless Scanners
Wireless Technologies extend beyond simple network access. Wireless scanning technologies have become a reality. We can use Wi-Fi, Broadband or Cellular technology to implement complete barcoding, shipping and receiving solutions.
